ABRAJ Energy Services reported on 28 July 2026 that its third rig had started operations for Wafra Oilfield Joint Operations, between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The company also reported a separate PDO rig start during the second quarter. These operational milestones were reported in ABRAJ's Q2 2026 announcement, rather than forecasts of future rig deployment.
For drilling contractors and maintenance buyers watching the Kuwait–Saudi market, the distinction matters: a rig entering service changes the maintenance context, but the announcement alone does not identify its installed component brands or establish an open purchasing requirement.
Buyer analysis: a rig start is a prompt to review readiness
Our editorial view is that news of an additional operating rig is useful when it helps procurement teams ask better questions about their own equipment. Maintenance priorities should come from the actual rig configuration, inspection findings and approved maintenance plan.
A drawworks clutch illustrates this point. A general description such as “clutch for a drilling rig” is too broad for a meaningful comparison. Buyers should identify the assembly manufacturer, model, drawing reference and the specific replacement item required. A new project name or a rig's operating location cannot substitute for that information.
Keep readiness lists tied to each asset
For a fleet serving more than one operating area, an asset-specific parts register is more useful than one combined list of generic consumables. Link each requested item to a rig number and equipment record; separate routine replacements from items awaiting inspection or engineering review. This helps buyers compare like-for-like quotations without treating every spare as interchangeable.
The same discipline applies when transferring spare stock between rigs. Similar appearance is not confirmation of fit. Where a part number is missing, clear nameplate photographs, technical drawings and installation dimensions give the supplier a stronger starting point for checking a request.
Use the news as context for your own purchasing work
Pratt Oil's drilling rig and drawworks parts catalogue provides product references for preparing a parts enquiry. Send the actual equipment identification with the requested quantity. The installed configuration and approved maintenance scope should govern each request.
